From arrows to rounds
A small set of arrows is called an end. Several ends at defined distances make a round. The exact arrow count and target face depend on the round, so listen to the field captain and check the score sheet before starting.
Calling and recording
Archers usually call values from highest to lowest while a target companion records them. Do not touch arrows or the target face until every score is agreed. An arrow touching a higher scoring line receives the higher value; ask a judge when it is uncertain.
Your score is feedback
Scores help track progress, but grouping and shot quality are often more useful during early practice. Mix scored rounds with technique sessions so the number supports learning instead of dominating it.
